Fiat 500 Takes Stage With Jennifer Lopez

The American Music Awards seemed to be taking choreography cues from an auto-industry trade show last night when a Fiat 500 appeared onstage with Jennifer Lopez during her performance of Papi.
With pulsing music, bright lights, spinning backdrops and squads of  dancers, the scene could have been taken from the Detroit auto show.

The car?s latest close-up is part of a collaboration begun earlier this year between Fiat and Lopez, which included placement of the 2012 Fiat 500 convertible in the ?Papi? music video and a 30-second trailer of the video that includes the car. Lopez also appears in the ?My World? and ?Elegance? commercials for the Fiat 500 Cabrio and the special-edition Fiat 500 by Gucci.

The high-profile award-show appearance comes just as the new Fiat subcompact car could use a boost.

By working with Lopez the car maker hopes to attract an audience diverse in age, ethnicity and economic background.

?This appearance allows us to continue to expose the 2012 Fiat 500 to a wide demographic. These past few days have been momentous for Fiat as we have recently revealed the all-new 2012 Fiat 500 Abarth at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show,? said Olivier Francois, the brand?s chief executive.

The 500 model is the spearhead of Fiat?s long-awaited re-entry into the U.S. market after a decades-long absence. The car?s success is a critical part of the company?s strategy and it is unclear what will happen if it winds up a flop.

About the American Music Awards In 1973 Dick Clark created the American Music Awards to pay tribute to popular musicians from various genres of music and to put audiences in touch with the latest phenomena in American music. Since its founding, the AMAs have honored and showcased the talents of some of the biggest names in the music industry.

About the FIAT BrandThe FIAT brand stands for discovery through passionate self-expression. It encourages people to be in charge of their lives, live confidently and celebrate the smallest of things with infectious excitement. That philosophy is embodied by the North American introduction of the iconic Fiat 500 or Cinquecento ? a small car that lives big. Italian at heart and rooted in a rich heritage, the 500 is synonymous with modern simple design blending form, function and a pride of ownership that is genuine.

Reminiscent of the original Cinquecento, the 2012 Fiat 500 and Fiat 500c (Cabrio) build on the vehicle's global popularity. Since its initial launch in 2007, more than 500,000 Fiat 500 vehicles have been sold in more than 80 countries around the world. The model's unquestionable popularity is the result of the Fiat 500's great ability to deliver unmatched personalization options with advanced solutions in terms of quality, engine and passenger comfort. In addition to success on the sales front, the Fiat 500 has earned more than 60 international awards, including being named the 2008 European Car of the Year, 2009 World Car Design of the Year and Best New Engine of 2010 (FIAT MultiAir® Turbo).

Cavender Fiat now open in Selma, TX

Amazing service!
I took my Fiat in to Cavender last weekend for a rattle in my doors that was bugging me, and I could not be more pleased with the service that I received.
I had originally purchased my car from Ancira Fiat since they were the only dealer in the San Antonio area at the time, but trying to get good service from Ancira was a huge pain. Apparently, once you take you vehicle in to them and deal with one service manager, you are stuck with that service manager and their technicians forever. With my schedule, I can only take my car in for service on Saturdays, and the service manger that I got stuck with at Ancira only works one Saturday out of the month.
I was very impressed with Cavender Fiat. They introduced me to everyone in the service center and had me on my way within a couple hours.
Since they only service Fiats at that location, everyone is able to be attentive and friendly to each individual customer. Something that Ancira is severely lacking in their service departments.

Of course, I hope that nothing else goes wrong with my new Fiat, but I know, if it does, I will be taken care of by Cavender Fiat.
Kudos to them!

An accelerating market

This just shows that things ae lookig up.

LOS ANGELES--For such a cute little car, the Fiat 500 Abarth's scorpion logo is probably the manliest badge in automotive world.

At the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show, the peppy 101-horsepower Fiat 500 gets a heart transplant in the form of Fiat's award-winning 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo engine that boosts available power to 160 ponies. More impressive is the torque number: 170 pound-feet, which is the same amount of twist the Honda Civic Si develops with 2.4 liters of displacement. The Abarth 500 also features a single-option five-speed manual transmission and upgraded driveline components that can withstand the rigors of performance driving while mitigating torque steer.

The suspension has also been beefed up with Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) twin-tube shock absorbers by KONI and a stabilizer bar up front. Out back, the 500 Abarth still makes do with a torsion-beam rear axle, but also gains a stiffer stabilizer bar. The 500 Abarth can be had with optional 17-inch wheels or the standard 16-inchers. Regardless of size, the wheels wrap around an upgraded braking system.

The Abarth's cabin features the same Blue&Me hands-free calling system that you can get the standard 500 with, but the driver and front passenger now interact with the system while seated in sport bucket seats with pass-throughs for racing harnesses (not included). 2012 Fiat 500 Abarth

The Abarth name and the Fiat 500 Abarth have a racing pedigree dating back to the 1950s and this newest model has proven itself already in a number of 24-hour endurance races, so I'm eager to find myself behind the wheel soon.

Show Spotlight: Fiat 500 Abarth - latimes.com

Though most folks under the age of 30 don?t even remember Fiat?s previous stint in the American market (1908 to ?83), drivers of all ages were intrigued by the arrival of the mouse-like 500 last year. Though substantially larger than the miniscule original version (produced 1957 to ?75), the four-cylinder 500 is tailor-made for today?s costly gas and congested cities. The Abarth is the performance variant of the 500.

Fiat began partnering with storied Italian race car company Abarth in 1952 and in 1971 Fiat incorporated Abarth as its own racing department. Abarth?s well-earned reputation for creating ?small but wicked? vehicles out of everyday cars continues with the limited-production Fiat 500 Abarth.

Though full U.S. specifications (and pricing) for the 500 Abarth won?t be revealed until later during the show, Fiat has confirmed that it will be powered by the same turbocharged 1.4-liter MultiAir engine found in overseas versions. Sport-tuned suspension, to cope with the car?s impressive power-to-weight ratio, seems a certainty. With 17-inch wheels beneath flared wells, the U.S. 500 Abarth, which is expected in dealerships in the first half of 2012, should closely resemble its European counterpart.
